Zero Tolerance

Our school adopts the Hampshire County Council’s Zero Tolerance approach to unacceptable behaviour on school grounds. This is part of our ongoing commitment to ensuring that our school remains a safe, respectful and supportive environment for all children, families and staff.
Hampshire guidance emphasises the importance of maintaining clear procedures and expectations to safeguard young people and those who work with them, as reflected across county safeguarding frameworks and model policies for schools. In line with this, we are strengthening our processes to address any behaviour from adults that may compromise safety, respect or wellbeing within the school community.
Many Hampshire schools already use Local Authority–aligned policies, such as codes of conduct for parents and visitors, which outline appropriate standards of behaviour and the steps schools can take if these standards are not met. We will now be formally implementing similar expectations.

Our Zero Tolerance Approach Includes:
  • Respectful interactions at all times with staff, pupils and other parents.
  • No verbal or physical aggression, including shouting, swearing, threats or intimidation.
  • No inappropriate use of social media to criticise, harass or target staff or members of the school community.
  • Supportive communication, ensuring concerns are raised through the proper channels so they can be addressed constructively.
A paper copy of this approach is available by request from the school office.

Supporting Processes
To ensure these expectations are clear and consistently applied, the school will be following Hampshire safeguarding and procedural guidance, including:
  • Using established safeguarding procedures when a child or adult’s safety or wellbeing may be at risk.
  • Following behaviour and visitor‑related procedures modelled on Hampshire‑aligned school policies that outline sanctions where needed, such as meetings, written warnings, restricted access to the school site, or—in rare cases—formal barring.
These steps are designed to protect pupils, safeguard staff, and ensure the school remains a welcoming place of learning for everyone.
Working Together
We value our partnership with parents and carers and appreciate the overwhelming support we receive from our community. By embracing this approach, we aim to reinforce a positive, respectful atmosphere in which children can thrive and staff can work safely and effectively. We are always here to help.
