Talking to Children About Racism

Promoting Inclusion and Respect at Trosnant Federation

At Trosnant Federation, we are committed to creating a school environment where every child feels valued, respected, and included. Our ethos is built on kindness, equality, and celebrating diversity. We believe these principles are essential for preparing pupils to thrive in a modern, multicultural society.

As part of this commitment, we have strengthened our curriculum to include additional teaching on anti-racism, equality, and inclusivity. This includes:
  • Dedicated PSHE lessons focusing on respect, empathy, and understanding different cultures.
  • Themed assemblies celebrating diversity and exploring the importance of standing against discrimination.
  • Classroom discussions and projects that encourage pupils to learn about and appreciate different backgrounds and traditions.
  • Resources and stories that reflect a wide range of cultures and experiences, helping pupils see themselves and others positively represented.
We encourage parents and carers to join us in reinforcing these values at home, helping children understand why respect and empathy matter. Together, we can ensure that Trosnant Federation remains a safe, welcoming, and positive place for everyone.
